Seven Sisters is a beautiful amalgamation of seven mesmerizing states loaded with unique landscape, verdant land, charming atmosphere, and pristine beauty. The seven states comprise of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Tripura, located on northeast India.
The cuisine in the north-east is predominately non-vegetarian and every state has its favourite. As Tripura and Assam share closeness with Bengal fish remains to be the most loved dish. In Assam, the must-try dishes are Khar, Pitha, duck meat curry cooked with Ash Gourd. Sanpiau, Vawksa Rep are delicacies of Mizoram and in Nagaland try Smoked Pork, Bamboo Steamed Fish. Nga Atoiba Thongba, Iromba are fabulous dishes prepared in Manipur. Meghalaya is known for exciting dishes such as Jadoh, Tungtap and Tripura serves delicious Chikhvi and Zan is popular in Arunachal Pradesh.
Northeast is home to various cultures and its influence can be seen on the range of handicrafts available here. Northeast is famous for products made of bamboo and cane including wood carvings, textiles, and earthenware. Silk handlooms are famous in Assam and Meghalaya whereas Nagaland is famous for its shawls. Khamtis tribes of Arunachal Pradesh makes exquisite wooden images of Lord Buddha, and in Nagaland Angami and Rengma tribes are considered to be amongst the best blacksmiths in the region. Other items that are famous in the region are the jewelleries items made from beads, reed, bamboo, bones, feathers, and unique insect wings.
